My Favorite Events: Maria

As a supplement to the articles for each of the Flower Bud bachelorettes, I’ve also felt it would be a good idea to include an additional, shorter page featuring my personal favorite events for each character! With no further ado…

It might be a little bit of a plain choice, but one of my most distinct memories about playing HM64 is always Maria’s photo event. It catches my attention from the very start: A sheepish librarian being excited to show me something in the middle of the night, and in pitch black darkness, each individual firefly lights up one-by-one and swirls around us. If there was ever one scene that makes me hope for a high-budget remake over a sequel, this would be the one. It’s a beautiful, memorable scene that I’ll always remember.

Personally, I love a lot of them and would probably give runner-up to favorite being her confrontation with Sammy the Salesman that provides her closest link with her SNES grandmother, and it’s probably worth a look!
