Then and now: Brandon

This is a legacy article and was originally published August 30th, 2019.

So, clearly, one thing a lot of people noticed with the announcement of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is that a lot of the characters have changed their appearance. While some of these changes are hit and miss, there’s a lot of changes that make sense! So I thought I would do a little series about them. So I present…

Then and now: Brandon!

As we can see, Brandon’s original design was that of thin air. Where nothing is and nothing will be. He definitely represents one of the most drastic changes as he now contains a physical form, a name, and a personality. This is a stark contrast to his previous appearances as an ethereal vacancy of open space.

I suppose one may draw similarities to the carpenter’s apprentices in Harvest Moon 64, where Gotz would now be playing the role of the lead carpenter. However, this would ignore the fact that Brandon does not seem to be a carpenter, and instead, is an artist.

An artist who we can now see saw the vacuousness of the tablespace in Gotz’s cabin and decided that it simply did not need to be, placing his new form where it was needed. Where there once was void, there is now Brandon, and where Brandon wills it, there will no longer be void. May the artist’s whims guide us all to a new world of woodcarved beauty.
