Then and Now: Harris

This is a legacy article and was originally published July 24th, 2019.

So, clearly, one thing a lot of people noticed with the announcement of Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is that a lot of the characters have changed their appearance. While some of these changes are hit and miss, there’s a lot of changes that make sense! So I thought I would do a little series about them. So I present…

Then and Now: Harris!

Harris was originally designed as Flowerbud Village’s mail carrier, who truly believed in the power of the written word and how it could bring people together. He was younger, more soft spoken, and appropriately wore a uniform practically identical to that of an old school postman, or the world’s biggest Postman Pat fan. The coat, hat, tie and all. It was definitely a stretch to consider this guy was somehow Mineral Town’s sole police officer when he wasn’t even dressed the part. Never even mind the questionable need for a police officer in a town with no crime.

Speaking of, oh wow. He actually looks like a cop now. High visibility stripes, badge, and a black vest that I’m sure he’d use to mount a transceiver if there was any other police officers in town to talk to. He’s also been aged up, possibly to justify taking him out of the dating pool. It’s kind of a shame that 64 is the only time he got to have a romance outside of an unrequited love for Aja, who’s completely absent in all Mineral Town games so far.

He still feels incredibly out of place to me, but at least his redesign actually reflects his role now. Outside of being Mayor Thomas’s son and newly inheriting his mustache and hair color, he doesn’t have much to do or even appears in many events… so I hope he finally gets some time to shine again in Mineral Town Reunion.
