Carter is an original character for Mineral Town, which opted not to use 64′s Pastor Brown at all for... some odd reason. So why would he get such a drastic makeover?
Then and Now: Harris
He actually looks like a cop now. High visibility stripes, badge, and a black vest that I’m sure he’d use to mount a transceiver if there was any other police officers in town to talk to.
Then and now: Kai
These two Kais have different approaches to life, work ethic, and completely different families, they can still be a bit of a hopeless romantic.
Then and now: Popuri
While Popuri is one of the characters that feels like she changed the least in her transition from Flowerbud Village to Mineral Town, the biggest difference ends up being how her family treats her.
Then and now: Doctor
Okay, so this one is going to be pretty difficult because... Doctor isn’t in Harvest Moon 64! At all!
Then and now: Elli
Elli is a fairly old fashioned nurse, but there are very specific changes to the details of her outfit that help highlight her new role.
Then and now: Rick
In 64, Rick is an inventor and a direct descendant of Ann from the original SNES game who he shares a lot of qualities with. From the laid back attitude to the love of inventing for the sake of inventing, it was obvious where he belonged. Then, suddenly, he and Popuri were poultry farmers.
Then and now: Karen
To begin with, the most obvious change is the loss of Karen’s trademark blonde bangs
Then and Now: Ann
Unlike Elli or Mary, Ann is one of the characters who probably changed the most between Flowerbud and Mineral Town.
Denizens of Flower Bud: Ann
The daughter of Hall, sister of Gray, and granddaughter of the original SNES game’s Ann. She doesn’t inherit much of that inventor knack for machines though.
